Two distinct operational challenges face mature e-commerce merchants:
First: You want to expand your catalog from 500 products to 5,000 products without spending millions upfront on warehouse inventory. You want third-party suppliers to fulfill orders directly to your customers (DropShipping).
Second: If you sell electronics, appliances, footwear, or luxury leather goods, sales don't end at delivery. Customers need warranties, device servicing, and repairs. If your warranty process is chaotic, brand loyalty dies.
This week, we solved both sides of this equation in Manmerce.
1. Multi-Vendor DropShipping & Automated Basket Splitting
The biggest flaw in basic dropshipping setups is the multi-vendor shopping cart. What happens when a shopper orders a watch from Supplier A and a leather wallet from Supplier B in the same checkout?
In Manmerce, our DropshippingService hooks directly into the checkout order creation event:
- Automated Order Routing: The system inspects cart items and automatically generates isolated dropship orders (
DSO-YYYY-XXXX) routed to respective vendors. - Wholesale Cost Tracking: Each product has an agreed seller cost (
seller_price). When the vendor ships and delivers the parcel, their net payable account balance is credited automatically. - Disbursement Payout Ledger: Administrators disburse funds using dedicated payment vouchers (
DISB-YYYY-XXXX) via bank transfer, bKash, or check, maintaining a 100% auditable trail.
2. Warranty Registrations & Workshop Servicing Job Cards
Through the WarrantyService, every product sold can carry an automated warranty policy linked to serial numbers:
- Serial Number Tracking: Fast lookup by device serial number, with automatic coverage expiration calculations.
- Customer Claim Submission: Shoppers submit warranty claims from
/account/warranties, uploading malfunction photos and defect descriptions. - The Interactive Workshop Kanban: When a claim is approved, a formal workshop service job card (
SJ-YYYY-XXXX) is created on the Kanban board (/admin/warranty/jobs) across stages:received➔diagnosed➔in_repair➔waiting_parts➔completed➔delivered. - Parts & Labor Costing: Workshop managers assign technicians, log replaced parts, and track labor fees (automatically zero-rated for valid in-warranty claims).
- Printable Job Acceptance Voucher: A physical printout (
@media print) for technician and customer sign-off upon receiving and returning repaired equipment.
